The National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) is a chain of healthcare clinics in Sindh, Pakistan, run in conjunction with the Government of Sindh. Dr. Ali Muhammad Kasim started it in 1963. The National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) has become the world’s only healthcare facility to perform over 4,000 cardiac surgeries and 8,197 primary PCIs, over 12,000 procedures [and] dozens of cardiac implants, all for free, at its main centre in Karachi and eight satellite centres spread throughout Sindh.
